Anton Ostoft (FIBA)

Anton Ostoft

Team: Chlorella (Spain)
Height/Position: 6’4" Combo Guard
Nationality: Denmark
Birthdate: August 5, 2005

Level: Mid to High Major
Roles: Primary or Secondary Ball handler
Swing Skills: Decision making

Denmark’s Anton Ostoft, is scoring combo guard who averaged 18.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.4 steals per game while shooting 39% on 6.6 attempts from three at the 2023 Under 18s European Championships. A 6’4” lefty with a strong, powerful frame, Ostofta is crafty three-level scorer at the youth level that uses his size and strength to his advantage. He’s an efficient shooter from deep, scoring on a high volume of attempts and with a knack for knocking down contested pull-up jumpers. Ostoft excels at getting into the paint and scoring downhill using ball screens, where he embraces physicality and shows no fear of contact. The main appeal is he’s a deadeye shooter from deep when his feet are set, but is reliable both off the catch and pulling up off the dribble. During the 2023 U18 European Championships, he shot 40% on catch-and-shoot attempts, 46% on uncontested jumpers off the catch, and 40% on pull-up jumpers off the dribble, while converting 71.9% of his shots at the rim.

Despite his strong scoring numbers, Ostoft has some real concerns. He tends to throw weak passes that lack zip, and his ball handling against good athlete could be problematic under pressure. He also displays just average athleticism and quickness and lacking vertical pop around the rim.

Additionally, his strong U18 performances came on weak team, which may have played a role in his big stats. He’s shows flashes of poor decision making as evidenced by his 25 assists to 41 turnovers ratio from the U18s.

Despite these concerns, Ostoft’s strong frame, shooting, and scoring instincts make him a notable prospect for college coaches seeking a versatile and reliable guard.
