Italian wing Dame Sarr offers good positional size and skills along with the IQ and feel to bloom into a secondary playmaker at a Power 5 program. He has high upside as a defender, thanks to his athleticism and long wingspan. Sarr is a decent ball handler and a efficient shooter from long range, shooting an “easy ball” with a beautiful release. At the 2023 U18 European Championships, he shot an impressive 40% from three on six attempts per game. Sarr shows real potential as a pull-up shooter off the bounce and is a sneaky athlete, evidenced by his highlight reel dunk over 7'3" Aday Mara. In the paint, he utilizes a nice runner or floater with a soft touch to avoid rim protectors. His main appeal lies in his potential as a secondary playmaker, capable of making plays out of ball screens and spacing the floor.
However, Sarr has areas that need improvement. His slim frame causes him to struggle against contact and physicality, often being easily bumped off his spots. He has difficulties finishing around the rim and does not consistently beat defenders off the dribble. Sarr tends to be more of an east-west ball handler than a downhill attacker and doesn't always use his athleticism around the rim, avoiding contact and lacking standstill bounce and vertical pop. Despite these concerns, Sarr's shooting prowess, defensive potential, and playmaking abilities make him a promising prospect for college coaches.
