Kaspars Jakucionis, a Lithuanian point guard for FC Barcelona's U18 team, quickly established himself as one of the most exciting young talents in Europe. At just 16, he became one of the youngest players to debut for FC Barcelona in the ACB and made his Euroleague debut in January. Jakucionis also made history at the Adidas Next Generation Tournament, recording a stunning 17-assist performance in a 118-46 victory over ALBA Berlin. During the tournament, he averaged 19.0 points, 12.7 assists, 4.7 rebounds, 3.7 steals, and 8.3 fouls drawn per game.
Standing at 6’6” with a strong frame and broad shoulders, Jakucionis is a crafty scorer who excels at attacking off the dribble. His advanced ball-handling and aggressive drives to the basket consistently earn him trips to the free-throw line. Known for playing with flair, Jakucionis has a natural scoring touch and elite court vision, especially in pick-and-roll situations, where he passes teammates open with precision. While not the most explosive athlete, he changes direction smoothly and plays with excellent pace, creating space for pull-up jumpers and finishing athletically at the rim when given a clear path. His rebounding, combined with his playmaking, makes him a consistent triple-double threat, and he shows promising upside as a shooter.
However, Jakucionis does have areas in need of improvement. He often relies on high-risk, high-reward passes, which can lead to turnovers, and his shooting consistency remains a work in progress, particularly off the catch. His preference for creating off the dribble limits his effectiveness in off-ball situations. Despite these concerns, his dynamic playmaking, elite vision, and scoring instincts make him a highly promising prospect for college programs.
